Happy Tuesday! I’m received a couple emails & Facebook messages about what exactly I’m doing outside the gym! I’m so happy that you guys are reaching out to me. I love to know you all are engaged in my posts & enjoying my journey with me!
Well I’ve been going strong with my workouts and consistent gym since mid-January. I have recently been watching my dieting more carefully. Now, when I say dieting, I’m not talking about an actual “diet” but simply referring to my everyday consumption of FOOD (which I love).
Luckily, I grew up in a household that never kept pop in the house or revolved meals around fast food. Not that’s a good or bad thing, it’s just helped me stay away from habits that don’t align with a healthy lifestyle. I drink water all day everyday. I drink too much sometimes (I have to pee every 5 minutes throughout the day *exaggerated*) buttt really, it’s a problem. HA!
That being said, I’ve been watching foods with high levels of sugar. Many of the protein bars I was taking because I thought they were “healthy” actually contain a lot of sugar! Not good. I recently found a protein bar that actually tastes delicious, has only 10 grams of sugar, and contains 30 grams of protein! I found them at Wal-Mart, 5 bars for only $4 (yes they were on sale). I’ll grab one of these on the days when I go straight to work after the gym (the days I can’t come home to make my protein shakes). SO YUMMY.
Ok- moving on: I start my day with my amino acids. Amino acids are very good for replenishing the body of nutrients, as well as helping to reduce soreness from the really hard gym days. I found this at Wal-Mart too. It only cost $16 for about 40 servings. Now since I was just starting out, I didn’t want to spend a bunch of money at GNC or online, so I’m starting with these before I think about investing in other products and brands.
Before my workouts, I take my pre-workout. I also found this at Walmart for around $16 for 40 servings as well. As your body adjusts to the pre-workout, you have the option to add two scoops, so the servings are that accurate. I LOVE THIS. It tastes good, and I have to literally MAKE myself leave the gym after I realize I’ve been there for over two hours. Oops.
P.S. The fruit punch flavor is BOMBBBBB, both my aminos and pre-workout.
Lastly, my protein mix. Okay let’s be real, protein mix in water is NASTYYYY. I do prefer the vanilla over chocolate, but it is still gross (in my opinion). I’ve been making smoothies in the Ninja. All I do is put my scoop of protein in the glass, add appropriate amount of water, and add some frozen strawberries & bananas. Adds a much better flavor and is so much easier to drink! Highly recommend so you can stop gagging after you drink your protein.
If I’m not eating or drinking any of these mentioned, I’m drinking TONS of water. I like to add lemons as a tool to help detox the body & it’s yummy. I’ve been eating a lot of chicken breast, deli turkey, veggies, and fruits. Remember to keep in mind, CHEATing in moderation is GOOD. It is okay to cheat on your strict diet once in a while. I make sure to allow at least one meal of normal food or the foods I’m craving. Last night, I had ice cream & I’m proud of it!
Well that is all my secrets! Like I said, I’m just starting out on this supplement journey. I am more than open to additional advice or critique you have for me! I want to learn!
Success in this lifestyle is discipline. Knowing when to say yes and when to say no. The gym is no longer a drag in my life. Almost 4 months in and my favorite part of my day is the gym. I look forward to making myself better, putting in my headphones, and getting in my own world. It is the highlight of my day.
I hope this answers some of your questions! I hope you all continue to have more questions for me as well! I love it. You all are awesome & I’m extremely thankful for each one of you! Keep up your own hard work, results are addicting.
Have a great week! Love you all.
As always, Be True. Be You.
