Okay- so today I wanted to write about something I love doing everyday of my life. Personal Branding. I discovered the term “personal branding” in my sales class last semester. My professor was a huge advocate for the topic, and it is obviously contagious. Personal branding is something everyone displays naturally. It is similar to a “first impression.” We all experience/give people impressions of what we stand for and how we carry ourselves every second of the day (whether we are aware of that or not).
Anyways, I was at work earlier this week, when I saw a shirt my coworker had just put on a mannequin for display. I saw it was a graphic tee and my size, so immediately I wanted it (yes I did feel bad I ruined her display, but we found another shirt hehe). At that point in time, I was just excited that one, it was a graphic tee, and two, it was from Abercrombie & Fitch’s new clothing line (also it was super soft).
Today, I decided to wear it. The longer I had it on, the longer I thought about how much more this silly graphic tee meant. The shirt reads, “Insert Logo Here.” People kept commenting on how much they liked my shirt and how funny it was. I laughed because people kept mentioning different name brands logo’s and making different jokes.
The more I thought about it though, the more I realized, this shirt is MY personal brand. It is everyone’s personal brand. People can be whoever they want. You can do whatever you set your mind too. You can distort every judgement made against you. You can “Insert Your Own Logo Here.”
You control what you represent, not anyone else. You can be confident. You can be strong. You can be whoever you want to be with the day God’s given you. There is no degrading comment or judgement you can’t break. Prove everyone else wrong about you, but more importantly, prove yourself wrong. If you believe in yourself all the way to the finish line, you will never disappoint yourself.
It may seem silly, but I saw a drastically deeper meaning in this A&F graphic tee. I’m definitely glad I came across it at work. It opened my eyes to an entirely new outlook, not to mention it’s super cute.
Of course I attached outfit pictures for you all, what would my blog be without them! 😉 I hope you enjoyed this corky little blurp in my day. It is truly my passion to represent what I stand for through my words, actions, and personal image everyday.
