Weekend DIY: Patio Table

self care

Self Care. Do you take time to check in? Really evaluate your happiness and well-being? When you take time to fill your life discovering passions and utilizing the gifts God has given YOU, you have more to pour out to the world around you.

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14-16

One of the gifts I recognized at an early age is my ability to see the best in situations/people. This is no different when it comes to seeing the best/beauty in a strap piece of counter top that we would’ve thrown away OR my obsession with wood pallets. People put pallets in dumpster when they are done serving their purpose…BUT WHY?! This “trash” to others has allowed me to create two coffee tables for my house and save a couple hundred dollars in buying new.

Moral of the story: Recognize the gifts God has given you and use them in all aspects of life. BOOM. (but yes, when I see pallets in dumpsters I go a little crazy)

Anyways, I have two patio chairs without a table and I was on my way out of the garage to go to Walmart (to buy a table) when I came across the piece of butcher block counter top we cut out when installing the kitchen sink during the kitchen remodel (back in April).

So what the heck! I bought some hairpin legs on Amazon and went to work. My NEED was a patio bistro table, the SOLUTION was the strap piece of counter top, extra stain I had from a previous project, some screws and the legs.

Basically, this post is a lot of words to simply tell you all that I took some “self care” time this weekend to create a table (staged with a plant & candle are the best and they help everything look cuter: Am I right?).

P.S. I only spend $25 on this project because the only thing I had to purchase were the legs (regularly priced at $45, but with points I scored them for $25). THE END.

Be True. Be You.
God is good.
Love, Ash

“She is clothed in strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”
Proverbs 31:25
