It’s starting to look like a bedroom y’all — 6 days!
July 26, 2018 – My Turning Point ⠀ Today, December 5th, 2019 – I spent some of my morning quiet time reading through my journal from 2018. My oh my, has God moved in extraordinary ways. As I was flipping through the pages, I came across some sermon notes from a message I watched on singleness (Before the Person by Pastor Mike Todd) on a random Thursday (July 26, 2018). ⠀ One of the bullet points I had jotted down from last July said the following: “God desires to give you parameters before the person – If you don’t have a standard before the relationship, the relationship will inevitability define your standards.” ⠀ Let’s just say the truth hit me HARD that day. I remember that night I sat outside on my patio praying asking God to transform my heart more like His. “God, what does a relationship designed by you look like? How do I prepare myself to be in that kind of relationship? What can I do now, God?” ⠀ As I was praying, it was on my heart to make a list – make a list of parameters that I desired a relationship to reflect. Parameters that would bring glory to God. So, I did. I wrote out ten boundaries that I desired to have when a relationship presented itself. It’s important to note that I had NO IDEA how I would ACTUALLY pull off sticking to those boundaries when the man I was praying for would come around; nevertheless, I wrote them down. ⠀ This was the turning point that changed the trajectory of my life relationally. I prayed over these boundaries almost daily and decided to trust God. If I had these desires for a relationship that aligned with the Word, then I would have the faith that God would give me, and that future man, the strength to do what pleases Him. ⠀ By no means has it been easy, nor perfect, but in eight days I will stand at the altar with “that future man” – Joel William Ryder. We praise God for the strength He has given us over these boundaries, for the mentors and community that surrounds us and that has held us accountable, and for each other. ⠀ As tomorrow we will countdown one last week of “singleness” before marriage, I plan on sharing a few of the other ways I witnessed God do BIG things in our singleness. ⠀ Stay tuned!
Same hottie, same favorite date night spot, same booth. From our first hangout together, to our first “official” date, to our last date night before our wedding — we thank God and @chipotle for bringing us together. ⠀ *this is not a sponsored advertisement but if it could be, it would be* 😉 ⠀ #bringbacktheflow #ryderthatoverandout
We found great J O Y in being “that couple” at open skate Saturday night amongst all the teens. Until next time, catch us diving into wedding prep to say “I DO” in just 11 days. Can’t wait to be your official Ryder die for life. ⛸#RyderthatOverandout
