December 12, 2019 – 1 day until Miss to Mrs As promised, I have one last thing to share with you about my singleness before I become a WIFE. AHHHH! I saved this for last because I believe this is THE single most important thing God did in my singleness. For as long as I can remember I have been a Christian. I grew up in a Christian household, my parents were diligent in raising us kids in church. My grandma frequently reminds me that at three years old I was running around the house yelling, “Jesus lives in my heart.” As the years went on, I had a hard realization that being a “Christian” and actually following Christ are two completely different things. Last summer, I was recommended to watch a sermon by Carl Lentz, “Always Only Jesus” (highly recommend). One of Pastor Carl’s key points was “the only way to get the only thing that matters = revelation (what God says), is through personal devotion.” He followed that statement with, “Your relationship with Jesus is WHO YOU ARE…What is your rhythm?” Until then, never had I thought that how I pursued a relationship with Christ could look differently than other Christians. I finally started to find my own rhythm. Spending time in the morning, journaling prayers and documenting how I was seeing God move in my life. I recognized that I learn best visually, verbally and socially so I tried to build off that when it came to knowing God's Word. I started listening to Christian Podcasts, watching sermons on YouTube, started a life group – all things that I enjoyed doing AND came more natural for me. This is when a "relationship with Christ" started to feel like MY relationship with Christ – it was something I wanted to pursue, not a chore. God DESIRES a relationship with us and I believe how you pursue Him is unique to the way He wired YOU. I thank God that he blessed me with a man who experiences this kind of relationship, the unique way he experiences Christ, and the way it enhances my own relationship with Christ. I believe that this is how God intended marriages to work – on mission together. So tomorrow our answer to the question, “Should you both choose to accept this mission?” will be “I DO.” 💃🏼
So you’re telling me I get to be your wife in two days? I can get down with that. 💍 #ryderthatoverandout
✨ DIY DRESSER REFRESH ✨ ⠀ Refurbished Joel’s old dresser for our master bedroom with some fresh paint + added some height with these mid-century modern legs — but kept some of the original character by reusing the original hardware. ⠀ ‘Twas a fun weekend project 🔨 ⠀ #diy #home #theryderhome
It’s wedding week y’all! ⠀ To continue our singleness chat from Thursday, I wanted to share another BIG way I witnessed God move in my singleness – community. ⠀ I am so grateful for the Godly community that surrounds both Joel and I. This community strengthens my faith, supports me, challenges me, holds me accountable, sharpens me and continuously speaks truth into my life. It is so vital to have an inner circle + community that wants more FOR YOU than FROM YOU. ⠀ P R O V E R B S 2 7 : 17 – As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. ⠀ These are my people and I thank God for friendships to not just get through life with but THRIVE through life with.
